*CAMPFIRE BANANA SPLITS*
Kids love these sweet banana splits, made in foil packets and heated over the coals of a backyard campfire or baked in the oven at your next slumber party. Be creative and add peanut butter chips, coconut, butterscotch or caramel. Mmmmmm!!! :))
6 large bananas, unpeeled, stems removed
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 pkg. miniature marshmallows
Any other toppings you’d like (toffee chips, caramel pieces, berries, sprinkles, etc.)
Preheat the grill for high heat.
Spray 6 sheets of aluminum foil, large enough to wrap bananas, with cooking spray.
Slice the peel of the banana from stem to bottom, while slicing the banana inside lengthwise. The bananas can be cut into slices instead if you like, (while still in the peel) for easier handling later.
Carefully open the banana just wide enough to place the chocolate chips and marshmallows inside the peel with the banana. Stuff with as much of the chocolate chips and marshmallows as desired.
Wrap the bananas with the aluminum foil and place on the grill or directly in the coals of a fire. Leave in long enough to melt the chips and the marshmallows, about 5 minutes. Unwrap bananas, open the peels wide, and eat with a spoon. :))
*PANCAKE BATTER DISPENSER*
gr8 for camping
Make your favorite pancake batter (homemade or from a mix).
Clean ketchup bottle
I used my whisk attachment so that I could make sure the batter wouldn't be lumpy, nothing worse than getting the batter clogged trying to get out of that small hole.
I then poured it into my ketchup bottle using my Pyrex measuring cup and presto!
It portion pancake batter with precision―without the usual mess of transferring batter from the bowl.
Perfect for camping or when you just want one or two pancakes.
Store unused batter in fridge.
NOTE: you can make different shapes with pancake batter, kids will love it. Be creative. :))
*ROLO MARSHMALLOW*

Marshmallows
Mini Rolo chocolate chunks
Try this on your next camping trip. :))
Take a bag of Rolo chocolate chunks and stuff one inside
a marshmallow and then poke the stick through the center of the marshmallow
behind where you have put the Rolo chunk, and brown the
marshmallow.
*PEANUTTY S’MORE*
While roasting your marshmallows, set the peanut butter cup on a graham cracker and place it on a rock near the fire so it softens up. Mhhhm...
mmm good!!
1 large marshmallows
2 graham cracker squares
1 Reese's peanut butter cup
Cook the marshmallows over hot coals until they are browned outside, and soft all the way through, 2 to 4 minutes.
Place peanut butter cup on top of one of the graham cracker squares by the fire. When marshmallow is done, top over Reese's cup. Top with the last graham cracker square. So gooooey, so good!!! :))

IDEAS FOR PIE IRON
Cook over hot coals until warm and crisp. Time depends on how hot your coals are. Check after three minutes. Flip pie iron over and continue cooking second side.
FILLINGS INSIDE TWO PIECE OF BREAD:
The buttered side of the bread needs to be on the outside of the pie iron like a grilled cheese... you can also use Pam instead of using butter.
-Nutella with fresh strawberries
-Strawberry or grape jam with whipped cream cheese
-peanut butter, chocolate chips, bananas and mini marshmallow
-peanut butter with Hershey’s chocolate bar or morsels
-peanut butter, chocolate bar, marshmallow
-peanut butter, banana, 1 tsp. brown sugar
-pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni and other ingredients of your choice
-can pie filling of your choice... sprinkle with a little sugar when done
-egg break the yolk, slice of cheese
-scramble eggs, cheese, pre-cooked ham, sausage or bacon
-tuna sandwich spread made with mayo, cheese and a slice of tomato
-slice of ham, slice of cheese with mustard
-use rye bread: swiss cheese, corned beef, sauerkraut with a little Thousand Island
-slices tomatoes, crisp bacon, lettuce and mayo
-leftover sloppy joe mix with cheese
FILLING INSIDE CRESCENT ROLLS:
use non-stick spray on the pie iron, take two sections of raw crescent to make a square for bottom and top.
-can of crescent rolls with can pie filling
-TACOS: can of crescent rolls, cooked ground beef cooked with taco seasoning, grated cheese, any other toppings you like (salsa, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream et.)
OMELETTE IN A BAG
This is the easiest breakfast to make when camping. The kids love it because they can help make it.... they get to pick their own ingredients and it’s healthy. Can’t get any easier then this. :)
2 large eggs
1 tbsp. grated cheese
1 tbsp. whatever you like in your omelette (onion, cooked bacon spinach, ham, green pepper, cooked broccoli etc.)
1 small Ziploc freezer bag
Crack eggs right into the small Ziploc bag.
Add the cheese and any ingredients you like.
Seal the bag, squish the ingredients to mix.
"Burp" the air out.
Bring a medium-sized pan of water to a heavy boil.
Drop Ziploc baggie into the boiling water.
Boil for 10-13 minutes.
Carefully, remove baggie from the water.
Open the bag, roll the omelette onto a plate and serve with fried potatoes.
YUMMY!!! so good
NOTES: In my personal experience with this recipe, I found it best to boil the omelet for 6 minutes, reduce the heat to a simmer, flip the baggie in the water and simmer an additional 4 minutes. After 5 minutes, I found the inside of the omelet to be runny. I used a quality Ziploc freezer bag and had no problem with melting.
CAMPERS PIZZA
Yummy!
Wheat bread (or u can use white bread)
Butter
Mozzarella cheese
Pizza or spaghetti sauce
Pepperoni
Butter one side of two slices of bread (the buttered side goes on the outside like a grilled cheese).
Using the pie iron, take two slices of bread, put 1 1/2 tablespoons pizza sauce on one slice of bread. Top with Mozzarella cheese and sliced pepperoni. Place other side of bread on top and butter outer sides of bread. Put sandwich into pie iron and place on coals of fire, keep a close watch and turn. Cook until bread is toasted. Mmmmmmmm Good!!! :))
COOKING ON A LOG
(CAMPING IDEA POSTED BY TAWNY LU VOSPER)
www.homesteadingsurvivalism.com
Stuff in some newspaper into the cracks as deep as you can get it, leaving a wick at the bottom, and light it up.
That's all there is to it—the log burns from the inside out, and you have a simple, handmade stove....TA DA
