TURTLE CAKE
(Recipe from my friend France B.)
1 pgk. German chocolate cake
1 pkg. Kraft “caramel” candies
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup pecans
1/2 cup carnation milk
Prepare cake as directed on the box. Replace oil by 3/4 cup butter. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan.
Pour half the batter and bake at 350'F for 15 minutes.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt all caramel with 1/2 cup carnation milk.
After 15 minutes, remove cake from oven. Pour melted caramel all over cake, sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans over caramel.
Pour remaining batter, bake 30 minutes more.
Serve with cool whips or ice cream.
