ORIENTAL CHEESE SPREAD

Block of cream cheese marinated in soy sauce, ginger and onion.
Very yummy. Serve with a variety of crackers.

1/2 cup soy sauce 
1/4 cup icing (confectioner's) sugar 
3 tbsp. finely chopped green onion 
1/2 tsp. finely chopped garlic (optional) 
1 1/2 tbsp. minced crystallized ginger 
1 tsp. dried crushed chilies 
1 pkg.(8 oz.) cream cheese 
Sesame seeds, toasted 3 tbsp. 50 mL

Combine first 6 ingredients in shallow bowl. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Pour into resealable plastic bag. Makes 3/4 cup (175 mL) marinade.
Add cream cheese. Seal bag. Turn to coat.
Marinate in refrigerator for 3 days, turning occasionally.
Remove cream cheese. Press into sesame seeds until completely coated.
Place on serving plate.
Sprinkle remaining sesame seeds over top.
Serves 8 to 10.
